About Rising Stars

Founded in 1971 by Patricia Morris in Hawaii, Rising Stars of Equestrian Therapy has spent over 50 years transforming lives through the healing power of horses. Now based at Sycamore Canyon Equestrian Center in San Dimas, California, this non-profit organization serves children and adults with special needs—including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and PTSD—as well as non-challenged riders. Under the leadership of director Dianna Voss, Rising Stars combines decades of expertise with compassionate care, offering private lessons, therapy sessions, and community-focused programs.

Therapeutic Approach

Holistic Healing: Horses act as partners in physical, emotional, and cognitive growth, aiding motor skills, confidence, and emotional regulation.
Individualized Goals: Sessions are tailored to each participant’s needs, whether improving social anxiety or recovering from trauma.

1. Equine-Assisted Therapy

For individuals with disabilities or mental health challenges, focusing on balance, communication, and emotional resilience.
Supported by PATH International standards and experienced volunteers.

2. Private Lessons

One-on-one coaching with director Dianna Voss, ideal for targeted skill-building or personal growth.

3. Saturday Open House

Join free community sessions (9:00–10:30 AM, weather permitting) to meet therapy horses, observe sessions, and learn about volunteering.

4. Volunteer & Donor Opportunities

Assist with horse care, client support, or fundraising events.
Donations fund therapy horses, facility upgrades, and scholarships for families in need.
